JWCA is situated in an idyllic location to enable the total enjoyment of various forms of water sports. The club offers courses for all disciplines throughout the long summer season from April to October for serving soldiers, sailors and airmen and their dependents. The club also offers courses to Service personnel on Adventure Training expeditions from UK bases and to attached personnel from visiting Units. All of the courses are delivered by the club’s own Royal Yachting Association RYA accredited instructors. Once qualified, the new sailor can then make full use of the club’s extensive range of dinghies and boards, with the opportunity to improve the new-found skills through a little healthy competition in the regular small race events should he/she wish.

For the family, JWCA is ideally placed next to an open sandy beach with a marked shallow safe swimming area. A play park, toilets and changing room facilities, a surf gear shop and a beach café serving drinks and hot and cold food are nearby. Other facilities available for use include a beach volley ball court and even a pool table.

With safety of absolute importance to all water users, on Wednesday afternoons and throughout the weekends during sailing and/or courses, full waterborne safety cover is provided. It is stressed however, that there is NO LIFEGUARD, and parents MUST therefore exercise full supervision of, and are responsible for, their children at all times.

The structured courses on offer comprise of: RYA level 2 adult dinghy sailing, children’s dinghy sailing stages 1, 2 and 3, windsurfing and finally, RYA powerboat levels 2 and 3 (Safety boat certificate). This wide choice enables individuals to select the right course for them and to learn in a safe and friendly environment. The opportunity to learn these skills in the warm climate and waters of Cyprus is one definitely not to be missed.

The wide range of excellent equipment available for use by full and temporary club members is regularly updated and currently includes: a fleet of Laser Pico’s, Laser 1’s and double-handed Laser 2000’s plus two high performance Dart catamarans and for the powerboat courses, there are two large RHIB’s with powerful, fuel efficient outboard motors. There was a banana to ride should the wind prove fickle at any time but the Fun Police (aka H and S) have put a stop to that for some inexplicable reason!
